BNDES finances R$ 40 million to a touristic project in Guarujá
· Endeavor, of Silvio Santos Group, creates 1,800 direct and indirect jobs
The implementation of a touristic endeavor at Pernambuco beach, in Guarujá (State of São Paulo), will receive a BNDES financing of R$ 40 million. The amount is equivalent to 45% of total investments, R$ 89.4 million, which will be made by Sisan Empreendimentos Imobiliários Ltda, a company of Silvio Santos Group. In addition to the hotel complex, the initiative also comprises investments in social and environmental areas, with professionalization programs for needy youngsters in the region and actions for native flora and fauna preservation and recovery.
The project plans to generate about 300 direct and 1,500 indirect jobs, beginning with the fifth operating year of Sofitel Jequitimar Resort, which is the name of Sisan's touristic endeavor. The location will receive a construction, below the height of the trees' crowns, of 301 apartments, a sports complex, a spa, a villa and service gallery, convenience stores, a convention center, an entertainment area and a parking lot with 520 spaces.
The Sofitel Jequitimar Resort will operate in a municipality 82 km distant from São Paulo metropolitan area, in a region lacking hotels with convention centers. The endeavor will be managed by Accor, an international hotel company that operates about 4 thousand endeavors worldwide. BNDES financing will be carried out by Bradesco.
Sisan, one of the 34 companies of Silvio Santos Group, was founded in 1990 to manage investments in real estate endeavors. The Silvio Santos Group, held by the businessman and TV presenter Silvio Santos (artistic name of Senor Abravanel), began operations in 1959.
The City of Guarujá, with 265 thousand inhabitants, has a low-income population with high unemployment rate. For such inhabitants, Sisan will develop a social project denominated "Small Citizen", which teaches tourism professionalization programs for 14 to 18-year-old youngsters. Afterwards, the company plans the environmental recovery and preservation of Mar Casado island, located in front of the endeavor, through reforestation and replantation of Mata Atlântica's native species.
