1 - Recuperation of the Ceramic Tiles of the S. Francisco da Penitência

The Church of the 3rd. Order of S. Francisco da Penitência, a Master Gabriel Ribeiro project, was inaugurated in 1703. Beginning in 1827, it underwent various interior remodeling. Some of the riches of the church are the painted ceramic tiles of the cloister and the consistory, built in Lisbon, during the period from 1730 to 1750. Historically registered by Iphan in 1938. |

2 - Restoration of the Tower House of Garcia D'Ávila

| Constructed in the middle of the XVI century, the Tower House served as the residence of Garcia D'Ávila, arriving in Brazil in 1549 with Governor General Tomé de Souza, and his descendents. The existing chapel is reminiscent of the one that existed in 1551. The Tower House was remodeled several times, but all that exists today are ruins. It was the principal site of the largest land holding in Brazil, abandoned in 1835 and was historically registered by Iphan in 1938. |

3 - Imperial Palace

according to a project of the engineer José
Fernandes Pinto Alpoim, to be the home of the
vice-regency, and was inaugurated in 1743. Later,
it was the residence of Dom João VI and the
emperors. With the construction of the Quinta da
Boa Vista Palace, it became the court
administrative palace and afterwards the head
office of the Post Office. Historically registered
by Iphan in 1938 and passed to the Ministry of
Culture, it is one of the museums of the city of
Rio de Janeiro. |

4 - Nautical Museum of
the Bahia Barra Lighthouse

| The S. Antônio da Barra Fort, historically registered by Iphan em 1938, was adapted in 1974 to serve as the
hydrographic and navegation museum. The reconstruction of the fort in an octagonal layout was completed in 1602, then twice remodeled, first in 1626: in a hexagonal layout and later in the form of a ten sided structure, the layout that exists to the present. In 1624, the fort resisted, but was unable to prevent the invasion by the Dutch of what today is the present Barra port. |

5 - S. Luzia Church

| The origins of the church are those of a simple chapel of wood in which Fernão de Magalhães, the Portuguese navigator was married to a woman of mixed-blood named Luzia in 1519. The church is the oldest Catholic building in Rio de Janeiro, expanded in 1751 and reformed in the 19th century, when it received a construction of lateral corridors and new altars and other reforms. Estácio de Sá brought the image of S. Luzia, that is located in the consistory, to the church in 1565. Iphan historically registered the church in 1938. |

6 - Restoration of the S. Antônio de Igarassu

| The S. Antônio de Igarassu Convent and Church was constructed in the 16th century, according to a project by Franciscan friars. Attacked and sacked by the Dutch, it was abandoned until 1654 and its reconstruction was completed in 1693. It is a baroque monument rich in painted ceramic tiles that today houses the Museum of Sacred Art, whose collection of paintings consist of one of the most important collections of the Brazilian colonial period. The grouping of buildings received its historical registry by Iphan in 1939. |
