13 - Church of the 3rd Order of S. Francisco da Penitência

Located on the Santo Antônio Hill, facing the intersection of Carioca plaza and next to the Church of the S. Antônio Convent, the monument occupies a central position in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The interior is a legitimate example of Portuguese baroque in Brazil, presenting a notable unity of style, reinforced by the value of the sculptures of Manuel de Brito and Francisco Xavier de Brito and the painter Caetano Costa Coelho. The monument was historically registered by Iphan in 1938.


14 - Restoration of the grillwork of the Historical Museum of the Republic Garden

Support amount: R$ 285.2 thousand.

The museum is installed in the Catete Palace, constructed by the Baron of Nova Friburgo, between 1858-1867, based on the project by Gustav Waehneldt. The palace passed through many owners until it was acquired by the federal government in 1896, becoming the seat of government of the Republic until 1960 1960. Its garden was designed by Paul Villon. The architectural grouping was historically registered by Iphan in 1938.


  15 - Historical Churches of the 18th Century
Mariana (MG)
Archdiocese de Mariana
Support value: R$ 2.6 million.

The Matriz da N. S. de Nazaré and the N. S. do Rosário churches are located in the S. Rita Durão district, 40 kilometers from the city of Mariana. The first was constructed by the Santíssimo Sacramento Brotherhood has its ceiling painted by João Batista Figueiredo, a well-known painter of the18th century in the state of Minas Gerais. The second, in addition to te paintings by the same painter, contains an alter attributed to Aleijadinho (The Cripple). Both were historically registered in 1945. 

 
The Matriz de S. Caetano Church, located in the Monsenhor Horta district, was constructed by the Santíssimo Sacramento Brotherhood. Its exterior is simple, but the interior decoration is opulent: consisting of a grouping of gold-framed works in the "joanino" style and four panels painted by D. Vicente José de Nicolta. The monument was historically registered in 1953.

 
The Matriz de Bom Jesus do Monte Church, located in the Furquim district, was constructed by the builder from the city of Mariana José Pereira Arouca. The design of the exterior has a robust design, the interior preserves the original artwork of the five altar panels and the chapel -nave archway of the principal altar, noted for its expansive proportions and the originality of its decoration. Historically registered in 1949.

 
The N. S. do Carmo Church, located in the center of the city of Mariana, is considered one of the best examples of rococo in the state of Minas Gerais. The relief work of the entranceway door is by José Meireles Pinto and the soapstone angels over the doorway were sculpted by Sebastião Gonçalves Soares. Historically registered in 1939.

 
The S. Francisco da Confraria Church, located in the city of Mariana was constructed by the Cordão de S. Francisco Arch-confraternity. There are indications that the artists Romão de Abreu, José Antônio de Brito and Manuel da Costa Athaíde participated in the design and decoration. Historically registered in 1939.


16 - S. Bárbara Church
Goiás Velho (GO)
Social Works of the Goiás Diocese 
Support amount: R$ 282.2 thousand.

Constructed on a small hill in 1775, it access was made by a stairway of 52 steps, originally constructed in soapstone. Historically registered by Iphan in 1950. 


17 - Itamaraty Library
Rio de Janeiro (RJ)
Herbert Levy Institute
Support amount: R$ 854.7 thousand.

The library project was chosen in a contest by the Brazilian Architects Institute. It was constructed between 1928 and 1930, to house the archives, library and maps donated to the government by the Baron of Rio Branco. The project is the design of Robert Prentice (Scotla0nd) and Anton Floderer (Austria), with a neo-classical entranceway of the 19th century. Historically registered by Iphan in 1938.


18 - Matriz de S. Antônio Church
Tiradentes (MG)
Roberto Marinho Foundation
Support amount: R$ 1.5 million.

The center of the old Vila de S. José do Rio das Mortes, now Tiradentes, is one of the best examples of the baroque tradition in Minas Gerais, principally due to its interior decoration. It was constructed in the first half of the 18th century, and is important for its entranceway and large doors designed and built by Aleijadinho (The Cripple). In addition to the riches of the images, paintings and panels, the church has an organ manufactured in Portugal and installed in 1788. Historically registered by Iphan in 1949.
