19 - Restoration of Proscenium Cloth of the Rio de Janeiro Municipal

The theater building was inspired by the Paris Opera. The architectural project, with its eclectic style is the design of Francisco de Oliveira Passos. The sculptor, Rodolpho Bernardelli worked on the decoration, sculpting the principal entranceway, and the painter, Eliseu Visconti, was responsible for the painting on the internal columns and pillars, on the proscenium curtain and stage opening, and the foyer. With a seating capacity for 2,400, it was inaugurated in 1909 and historically registered by Iphan in 1973. |

| Its first chapel was completed in 1696 and the expansion works were inaugurated in 1735. The interior houses the famous painting of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, by the Santa Catarina painter Vitor Meirelles. The church is located in the historical center of Laguna, and was historically registered by Iphan in 1985. |

| Constructed by the French engineer Louis Léger Vauthier, it was inaugurated in 1850. After the fire in 1869, it was reconstructed by the engineer Vitor Fournier and reopened in 1876, with a seating capacity of 850. The theater was the home of the Joaquim Nabuco abolitionist campaign. It was historically registered by Iphan in 1949. |

| The church and residence were constructed between 1580 and 1615, with the help of the Tupiniquins Indians, who lived in a Jesuit village. On the alter is a painting of the adoration of the Magi dated 1700. It was historically registered in 1943. |

Saint Mary Magdalene Franciscan Convent

The
architectural complex consists in the old Franciscan
convent, which shelters the Museum of Sacred Art of
the State of Alagoas - MASEAL and two Churches: The
Third Order and First Order of San Francisco.
It is a unique barroque religious arquitectural
masterpiece in Brazil. It was built by the middle of
the 17th and end of 18th century, in the place of na
old building used by Franciscan priests for
religious seclusion. Throughout its life, the
complex was used for many purposes. It even
sheltered a weapon depot and “Orphanato São José” (San
Jose Orphanage). In 1984, after the great reform the
MASEAL was installed where the former convent lay.
Its beautiful legacy includes sculptures, images and
sacred art objects, as well as gold and silver
pieces. |

24 - Restoration of the S. José
Fort

| Originally constructed in 1565, it was completely reformed and equipped in 1872, on the orders of D. Pedro II, as a result of the episode known as the Christie Question. The fort came to have turrets and a large munitions storehouse, and was equipped with 15 Whitworth 75mm cannon and an additional 20 cannons of smaller caliber. It is located on the Cara de Cão Hill, and was historically registered in 1973. |
