31 - Restoration of
the tiles of Nossa Senhora da Glória do Outeiro

| Completed
in 1739, the church was the pioneer of the baroque
architecture, introducing the prolonged polygonal
plan drawing. The set of wall tiles impresses by
its sobriety. They present a monochromatic blue
drawing over white background and represent scenes
inspired in the Chant of Chants (pastoral scenes,
having as main character, Sulamita, surrounded by
her mates, playing instruments or building flower
wreaths). The church was historically registered
by IPHAN in 1938. |

32 - Restoration and
Embellishment of Nossa Senhora dos Prazeres Church

| Constructed
between 1676-1795, it replaced a small chapel
built around the XVII century. It belongs to the
Benedictine Order that arrived in Brazil in 1795.
The façade was done in two stages: in the XVIII
century and finished in 1795. On the inside, it is
covered with tiles, being the oldest ones at the
chapel-nave. The main altar and two side ones are
from the end of the XVII century. It was
historically registered by IPHAN in 1938. |

33 - Nossa Senhora
do Carmo da Antiga Sé Church

| The Church
was inaugurated in 1770, but its works were only
finished by 1808, when it was required by the
Royal Family, newly arrived to Brazil from
Portugal, to be the Royal Chapel. There, were
celebrated the crowning and acclamation of the
King D. João VI, the marriage of D. Pedro I and
D. Amélia de Leuchtenberg, the consecration of D.
Pedro II, among other events. It was the first
Brazilian cathedral and maintained its function as
Rio de Janeiro Metropolitan Cathedral until 1976.
The church was historically registered in 1941. |

34 - Portuguese
Language Station

| The
construction of Luz Station started in 1895 and
was finished in 1900. The building was designed in
England and is considered one of the most
significant examples of the use of iron in the
country's architecture, together with José de
Alencar Theatre, in Fortaleza and São José
Market, in Recife. It was historically registered
by IPHAN in 1996. |

35 - Juscelino
Kubitscheck's House Museum

| The Museum
is placed in the house where Juscelino lived
during his childhood and adolescence. It was
inaugurated in 1985, so that a collection could be
installed to allow the remembrance of the
ex-president of Brazil's life and work. The aim of
the project is to revitalize the Museum, to insert
it in the city's cultural, educational and
touristic circle. |

36 - Santa Cruz Fort

| The fort,
located at the entrance of Guanabara Bay is an
example of Portuguese colonial architecture of
fortresses and is one of the most important
tourist attractions of Niterói, with 180 thousand
visitors per year. It was historically registered
by Iphan and was built in 1567, after the
expulsion of the French from the city of Rio de
Janeiro. Its cannons were used for the first time
in 1599, against a Dutch corsair. It was expanded
during the 17th and 18th centuries, and in 1730 it
had the highest capacity of fire of all forts in
Rio de Janeiro. |

37 - Museum of Arts
and Crafts

| Restoration
and adaptation of the building-headquarters of the
Central Station of Brazil, with its neoclassic
style and located in the Rui Barbosa Square, in
Belo Horizonte, for the installation of the Museum
of Arts and Crafts. The purpose of the Museum is
to rescue the history of the Brazilian daily
production in the last three centuries. The core
of the exhibition will be composed of 1.800 pieces,
acquired and selected in the last 30 years,
divided in the following activities: carpentry,
ironworks, pottery, corn meal and flour, bakery,
leather, shoemaking and hattery, dairy products,
warehouse, still, goldsmithery, weaving, crafts
and troops and herds. |

38 - Matriz do Rosário

| The city
of Pirenópolis was founded by the bandeirantes (members
of the expeditions called "bandeiras")
in 1731, in result of the mining in the Almas
River. The construction of the Matriz do Rosario
Church was concluded in 1736, being an expressive
example of local architecture technics, using
pestle partition (smashed clay). It was
historically registered by IPHAN in 1941. In
September 5th, 2002, the Church caught a fire of
great proportions, aggravated by the lack of a
fireman's truck in the city that day. The
restoration project of this important monument
also intends to be a reference for the treatment
of injured monuments, in order to collaborate for
the prevention of future losses. |
