52 - Restoration of Theatro José de Alencar

Theatro José de Alencar Friends' Foundation
Amount of support: R$ 347.4 thousand.
Theatro José de Alencar, a work of the military engineer and captain Bernardo José de Mello, was officially inaugurated on June 17, 1910 and is located at a constructed area of 3.8 thousand square meters. The construction presents characteristics of the so-called garden theaters, comprised by multiple spaces. The whole architectonic body comprises an area of 6.3 thousand square meters, formed by the following spaces: Lobby and Foyer, Internal Courtyard, Garden, Annex and Show Room. It was registered as an historical property by the National Historic and Artistic Property Institute [IPHAN] in 1964.
 


53 - Luz da Nossa Língua Station

Amount of support: R$ 600 thousand

This new support from BNDES was destined to restoration of the west wing of Estação da Luz, which is a building of unquestionable historic and architectonic value. Symbol of the Brazilian coffee in the beginning of the XX century, it was inaugurated in 1901, and underwent a fire in 1946, when 2/3 of the building were destroyed. Between 1947 and 1951, the east and central wings received two additional floors, and the central lobby was rebuilt. It was registered as an historical property by IPHAN in 1996.
 


54 - Artes e Ofícios Museum

Amount of support: R$ 3.9 million

This new support from BNDES, destined to the Artes e Ofícios Museum, was divided in two moments: the first for restoration and installations, and the second for building and installation of two annexes for an educational program and a professional qualification program. The Artes e Ofícios Museum is focused on the history of pre-industrial work in Brazil, through a collection that documents Brazilian popular practices, makings and crafts. It is the first Brazilian museum directed to such subject, and one of the few that present a significant collection of popular ordinary objects. Comprised of an extensive and rare collection of objects, instruments and utensils that register practices and makings for different craftsmanship in most different times. Presently, there are about 1.9 thousand pieces from XVII to XX centuries. 
 


55 - Brazilian Cinemateca
São Paulo [SP]

Amount of support: 1.95 million.

Brazilian Cinemateca is located in the architectonic area of the former Municipal Slaughterhouse of Vila Clementino, inaugurated in 1887. The area is formed by three depots, two of them already restored. This support has the purpose of restoring Depot 3 and the installation of "BNDES-Cinemateca Room" of Cinema. In addition to carrying a big collection of the national cinematographic production, Brazilian Cinemateca is a center of information and disclosure of the national cinematographic culture, as well as a center for restoration, research, preservation, documentation and disclosure of cinema within all its manifestations.
 


56 - Vila de Santo Amaro Church

Amount of support: 463.6 thousand.

Matriz de Santo Amaro Church integrates the historic site located at the Municipality of General Câmara (RS), jointly with another 14 houses in Vila de Santo Amaro. The church was registered as an historical property by IPHAN in 1938 and congregates one of the most important portions of the history of Portuguese-Azorean people coming to Rio Grande do Sul, and it is the most important Portuguese-Azorean historical property registered in Rio Grande do Sul. 
 


57 - Modernization of the National Historic Museum

National Historic Museum Friends' Association
Amount of support: R$ 1.6 million.

Created in 1922, during the celebrations of Brazil Centennial Independence, the National Historic Museum is liable for the preservation of most of national collections. Its buildings date from the XVII century and keep in its architecture traces of the Colonial, Imperial and Republican periods. Comprised of Santiago Fortress, Train House and War Arsenal, it forms one of the most important architectonic and historic complexes of the city.
