The Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) and the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) are finishing the construction of a fund of infrastructure assets with R$ 500 million in resources and a 15-year term.
The information was disclosed by the president of BNDES, Dyogo Oliveira, during the CAF Conference, held on Monday, 16, in Madrid, Spain, under the theme “Infrastructure for the Integration of Latin America.” BNDES will participate with 30% of the fund, and the remainder will be collected in the market. CAF will participate in as an expert consultant.
During the conference, which brought together ministers of planning and finance of Latin America, Oliveira pointed out that it is time for the region’s countries to become even more integrated in infrastructure. For this, it is essential that the region invests in improvements to its regulatory framework and creates an appropriate environment for the execution of projects.
Another important factor is the creation of instruments for covering the risks of projects and of a long-term capital market. The diagnosis is that, today, there is no shortage of financial resources for projects in the region, but lack of speed in their development.
