Sustainable Development
Today it no longer makes sense to think of development that is not sustainable. For it to become a reality in our country, a union of public sector forces, private initiative and civil society capable of inspiring and supporting an increasing number of agents to go in the same direction is necessary, because we will only achieve the level of change necessary for the planet through joint efforts. Almost 40 years ago, when no one was talking about sustainability, we had already prioritized the positive socioenvironmental impact and fostered partnerships in pursuit of this goal.
Therefore, the BNDES is the national bank for sustainable development.
Our focus is to integrate the economic, social and environmental agenda, so that the country can achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations (UN), make the fair transition to a carbon-neutral economy, and achieve economic prosperity. This translates into all our ways of acting, from the policies that govern our activities, through our commitments to achieving the results of this action in favor of sustainable development.
Our commitments
The BNDES is among the best evaluated organizations in the global sustainability ranking of Vigeo Eiris*. After all, our commitments are to the results for society, for the planet and for prosperity, and not with the values of financing. Because, for us, it is not the value that makes the difference, but the transformation that our performance brings to people's lives.
*The evaluation was carried out by Vigeo Eiris (V.E.), a rating agency associated with Moody's Corporation that evaluates the performance of organizations according to environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria. Among the 4,913 companies participating in the world ranking, the BNDES is in 86th position. In emerging markets, among the 848 organizations analyzed, the Bank is in 4th place.
