Dec 3, 2015

• Agreement was entered into on December 3 with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ and Mizuho Bank, Ltd.

On December 3, the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) signed an agreement to raise resources with three Japanese banks in the amount of US$ 100 million. The operation was sealed in Tokyo, and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) is the main source, with the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ and Mizuho Bank, Ltd. as associates.

Fundraising was conducted within the scope of the GREEN Line (Global Effort to Reconcile Economic Growth with Environmental Conservation), which is aimed at supporting projects that favor the conservation of the global environment, by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and generating power from renewable sources.

It is the fourth fundraising agreement signed between the BNDES and JBIC within the scope of the GREEN Line. The three previous agreements were signed in 2011, 2014 and March 2015. The BNDES has been operating since the 1950s in partnership with multilateral institutions and governmental agencies to diversity and expand its funding sources for financing operations. The relationship between the BNDES and JBIC began in 1962 and, since then, some 17 agreements have been signed, including this new cooperation in the GREEN Line.

Following this new loan agreement, the BNDES is now able to continue with its strategy of expanding its relationship with international financial institutions, thus increasing the Bank’s scale of investments in partnership with multilateral institutions and governmental agencies.
